Ma Fotographie

So something happened back in early 2011 and I went and shot food and sports for a year.  The sports photography part of me never left me really; I mean that's the first genre I was shooting when I started having hand photos "to other people" so to speak.

It wasn't until December that I figured out what some of my major photographic deficiencies were (still have a ton of em) so I made it a mission this year that 80% of my work if not more would be sent for publication as submissions to build my tearsheet portfolio.

Did this shoot back in the first week of January for a February publication, and even though they didn't take as many images as I'd like (and looking back, I think I know why as some of the stuff just didn't fit) it was a mini triumph so to speak.

YOu can check out the entire issue 4 of Veux magazine here (pretty high res):

I titled this story "The Red String".  It's a very loose interpretation of an Asian version of cupid.  Google up Red String of Fate if you're interested in what the original story is about.

Originally I wasn't sure if the shoot would even take off as it was quite the rush to get everything organized.  Thankfully Natasha from Elmer Olsen models provided me an absolutely SUPERB model in Shelby for this test, Jade Truscott from pinkpoutmakeup was absolutely brilliant (you'll see later in the post the cleanliness of her work) and Annie Bao as well as Angel Fung did a great job in styling and designing some exclusive pieces for this story.

Some extra images from the shoot:
